Saturday 24th October – Monday 26th October 2026
PIP Solutions are hosting Lisa Dion to deliver the 3 days in person Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy. This is an exciting opportunity for you to engage in a comprehensive play therapy training, as Lisa takes you on a journey that explores the foundational skills of Synergetic Play Therapy.
Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT) is a researched-informed model of play therapy blending the therapeutic power of play with nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, physics, attachment, mindfulness, and therapist authenticity. It grew from Lisa’s personal experience as well as research in neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, and attachment theory.
Lisa is delivering this 3-day in-person course to take you on a journey to explore the neuroscience behind what is happening in the play therapy process, how to repattern a child’s nervous system, and what it means to become an external regulator in the playroom. You will learn how to effectively work with caregivers and what it means to create a neuroception of safety allowing both the child and the caregiver to have a deeper integration.
The Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy has six modules delivered over 3 days: 9.00 am – 4.30 pm and includes:
18 hours in-person teaching with Lisa Dion
6 one-hour group consultations delivered online over a 4 month time period with a Synergetic Play Therapy® Consultant
3 pre-recorded one-hour video lessons to further your learning
Book Review of Aggression in Play Therapy: A Neurological Approach to Integrating Intensity
Deepen your understanding of what it means to become an external regulator. Help caregivers to become their child’s external regulator, and help children to expand their windows of tolerance, re-pattern their nervous system, and integrate their experiences.
Understand parents/ caregivers at a deeper level and learn how to become their external regulator. This includes how to carry out an intake with the brain in mind, goal setting, tracking a client’s progress and translating the play, and how to support caregivers in the session.
Deepen your understanding of attachment, attachment to self, and attunement. Explore the difference between a child’s emotional and chronological ages, and why interoception is the prerequisite for developing self-regulation.
Explore how to facilitate sand, art, and aggression through an SPT lens. You’ll also learn how to use regulation as a way to help integrate aggressive energy in the playroom, and why the therapist is truly the most important toy in the playroom!
As part of the course, you will participate in 6 x one hour Consultation Groups delivered over a 4 month time period, that will be led by a Synergetic Play Therapy® Consultant. Consultation is a mandatory part of the program to help you integrate what you are learning. (Please refer to the SPTI Institutional Policies)
Participants will be required to
