Description

Play offers powerful pathways for expression and healing across the lifespan. We may play with toys, thoughts, words, art, music, movement, breath, story, silence, and possibility. Yet effective therapy depends on thoughtful timing, sequencing, and clinical discernment. Without clear decision making, therapists may deepen too quickly, remain at surface level too long, or reinforce protective coping that limits access to meaningful processing.

This 90-minute workshop strengthens clinical reasoning in expressive and play based work with children, adolescents, and adults. Participants will examine key decision factors including developmental level, presenting concern, symbolic capacity, relational context, and current regulation state. Common timing and sequencing errors will be reviewed to increase precision and reduce unintended overwhelm.
